    Default Sony unveils Xperia Tablet Z: 10.1-inch quad-core super-thin water-resistant tablet

    Sony unveils Xperia Tablet Z: 10.1-inch quad-core super-thin water-resistant tablet

Sony Mobile Japan has announced the Xperia Tablet Z this morning and it looks to be a well-rounded package. First off, it is one of the thinnest and lightest 10.1-inch tablets on the market, coming in at just 6.9mm in thickness and weighing 495g. This makes it even thinner than the iPad mini. Whats even more amazing is that the tablet manages to pack in both water and dust resistance at this size.

In terms of hardware, the Xperia Tablet Z runs on a 1.5GHz quad-core processor (expected to be the APQ8064 Snapdragon with Adreno 320 graphics) and comes with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. The 10.1-inch tablet has a 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) resolution Reality display with 16:10 aspect ratio. The tablet also features Mobile Bravia Engine 2 as seen in its new Xperia smartphones.

Other features include a back-illuminated 8.1MP Exmor R camera, S-FORCE Front Surround 3D (surround sound), NFC and LTE. Whilst not explicitly listed in the press release, we expect the tablet to have 32GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, a microSD memory card slot, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 6000mAh battery.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-XTpdDDXiU&feature=player_embedded]Chromebook Pixel: For What's Next - YouTube[/ame]

Google has once again stunned the tech world. The new laptop they unveiled yesterday in San Franciscothe Chromebook Pixel stands out for many things radically new.

Its specs compete with any of the existing Ultrabooks or Macbooks; its resolution outdoes the best existing ones by almost 100 percent. Thats as good as, if not better than, what Apple calls retina display.

It has touchscreen, along with a keyboard and mousepad; the high-res touchscreen allows all the fancies and utilities like tap, pinch to zoom and swipe.

Chromebook Pixel runs on Intel Core i5 processor and comes out in two models: 32 GB model with WiFi only, 64 GB model with WiFi and LTE.

Apart from the 32 GB or 64 GB built-in storage, Google offers 1TB free space on Google Drive for three years.

In addition to all regular Google apps and docs, Chrome Pixel buyers can enjoy seamless integration with Microsoft Officeto satisfy the MS Office fanatics Google is offering Quick Office for free.

Where to buy: The Chromebook Pixel is already available in Google Play, and shall soon be available on bestbuy.com.

The Price: The google blog says it has aimed the Chromebook Pixel for especially for power users who have fully embraced the cloud. Hence, unlike the earlier Chromebooks from Google and its partner manufacturers like Samsung, Acer and HP, which are sold for as low as $199, the Chromebook Pixel targets an elite class of buyers who dont bother about the price, but minds the performance; users who are happy working on the cloud across superfast connectivity. Hence the price is in the upper band: $ 1299 for 32 GB WiFi model; $ 1449 for the 64 GB LTE model.

More details (as touted by Google and gleaned from sneak previews)

Screen: 12.85-inch touch-sensitive Gorilla Glass screen. 2560 x 1700 pixels on 12.85 inch screen translate to 4.3 million pixels, i.e. 239 pixels per inch whereas the best current laptops give a resolution of 118 ppi according to Google.

    OS: Chrome

    Webcam: 720p

Audio: Powerful, full-range speakers tucked under the backlit keyboard. Three microphones designed and deployed in a manner that cancels all surrounding noisetwo mics on either side of the cam, one laser mic under the keyboard. These ensure, Google claims, that the system cancels out even some keyboard tapping noises that you may make during videoconferences.

Look and feel: Anodized aluminium alloy body that is smooth and durable; vents and screws are hidden, ports are not marked.

Speed: Driven by Intel Core i5 processor and solid state flash memory architecture, it is quick and agile.

Security: built-in antivirus protection, regular updates every few weeks

Default Microsoft releases Internet Explorer 10 browser for Windows 7

Microsoft releases Internet Explorer 10 browser for Windows 7

Microsoft announced the general availability of Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7, providing availability of IE10 to millions of customers worldwide. It hopes the latest version of its market-leading browser will win back customers who have migrated to Google Inc's Chrome and help it establish a toe-hold in the fast-growing mobile browser market.

The world's largest software maker, whose Internet Explorer browser elbowed out Netscape Navigator in the early days of the web, said IE 10 is 20 per cent faster at downloading sites than its predecessor IE 9 and allows for touch-screen commands.
The browser has been available since late October for users of Windows 8, Microsoft's new touch-friendly operating system, but now becomes available for the 700 million or so users of Windows 7.

    Now, buy books from Google

Google on Thursday started selling books through its Android Play store in India. Google's decision to start selling content in India through the Play store comes nearly three months after Apple, which competes with Google in the smartphone and tablet market, introduced iTunes content store.

However, unlike iTunes store that sells music and films - but not books - in India, Google is selling only books for now. But sources say the company realizes India is an important smartphone and tablet market and going forward it is likely to add more content to the Play store.

"Just under one year ago, we introduced Google Play. Today we're adding books to Google Play for people in India. Books on Google Play now offers thousands of Indian titles, from new releases to classics," a Google official wrote on the company's blog.

"It's easy to find great Indian authors such as Amish Tripathi, Devdutt Pattanaik and APJ Abdul Kalam, plus international bestsellers from the world's largest ebookstore."

While Google's Android operating system powers a majority of smartphones in India the company has been slow to build a content ecosystem on the Play store.

But last year it picked some pace as it added the support for India-specific prices for apps in the Play store and rolled out Navigation service through an app for Android devices and iPhones.

The company has also lagged behind in introducing its Nexus phones and tablets, which are officially supported by Google, in India. So far, only one Nexus device - Nexus S - has been launched here.

Google said that books bought from the Play store will sync across devices with the help of the Play Books app. "With Google Play you can read on the device of your choice. And with your books in the cloud you can read on the web, a phone, or a tablet and pick up right where you left off," the Google official wrote on the blog.

Interestingly, users will be able to purchase books on the Play store through a web browser and read them on a computer. Apple's iTunes doesn't allow users to purchase items through a web browser.
