Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is touted as the highest paid actor in India. The Thalaiva, who usually charges more than Rs 80 crore per film, is only second to Jackie Chan in the list of highest paid actors in Asia.
Even in 2010, the Style Mannan was paid Rs 50 crore for Shankar's blockbusterEnthiran. Most Rajinikanth films ensure a record opening at the Box Office. However, his previous two films, Lingaa and Kochadaiiyaan were huge disasters at the Box Office.
Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan are the only two superstars in Bollywood who can be compared to Rajinikanth in terms of remuneration. Reportedly, both the Mujhe Shaadi Karoge actors used to charge Rs 35 crore to Rs 40 crore per film.
Post Veer though, all of Salman Khan films turned out to be Rs 100 crore hits at the Box office. But unlike Salman Khan and Rajinikanth, who does 1/2 films a year, Akshay Kumar's hit ratio is lesser than them, thanks to his 4-5 releases per year.

However, out of the last 10 Akshay Kumar starrers, except for Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara, Boss, and Brothers, the remaining films have done decent business at the Box Office. The Khiladi Kumar also produced two Rs 100 crore hits at the Box Office with Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty and Airlift. The actor's last week release,Housefull 3 too will join the century club within next few days.
And now, according to the latest update arriving from Kollywood, Akshay Kumar has emerged as the highest paid actor in India as the actor has been paid a bomb for his Tamil debut in Shankar's upcoming mega-budget film, Enthiran 2, a sequel to 2010 blockbuster Enthiran.
While the exact figures are yet-to-be-revealed, it has been confirmed that Lyca Productions, the producers of Enthiran 2, who were initially planning to cast Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, have reportedly given Akshay Kumar a fatter paycheck than the film's hero, Rajinikanth.

Yes, you heard it right. Reportedly Akshay Kumar has charged more than superstar Rajinikanthfor playing the antagonist role in the upcoming sci-fi thriller, 2.0, according to a report published in DNA.

The makers accepted to the Bollywood actor's demand since they were in a hurry to rope in an actor with a big value across the nation. They had initially approached Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger but nothing panned out well and the makers signed in Khiladi Kumar for the role.

However, the exact amount that was charged by the Housefull star has not been revealed.
2.0 also has Brit-born actor Amy Jackson in the female lead. The mega budget film is being bankrolled by Lyca Productions. Academy Award winner AR Rahman will compose the music for the mega-budget film.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth's forthcoming film Kabali has become the talking point of social media. The album of the film, composed by Santhosh Narayanan, was released on Saturday.

We hear that the makers made a hefty sum to get Akki on board as the villain for the sequel..

Robot was a super-successful film and the sequel is being readied now. With Rajinikanth returning as Chitti, this time it will be Akshay Kumar playing the prime nemesis to Thalaiva's character. The shooting is in process and the film is expected to hit screens next year in April.
But we heard something interesting about the film which has surprised us. Says a source, "Akshay Kumar has charged more than Rajni sir to be part of 2.0. It's unbelievable but true."

Akshay usually charges a hefty sum for his Bollywood outings too, along with a percentage of the film's profits. For his South Indian debut film, he is only asking for a whopping remuneration and he's got it without any argument. Why? The source reveals, "The makers approached Salman and Hrithik initially for the role but they took a lot of time to give their nod. Talks didn't materialise and when they discussed it with Akshay, they needed someone immediately to begin shoots and they agreed to all his demands."

The Airlift star is going to play the antagonist in the film. which is the sequel of the 2010 blockbuster film directed by Shankar.
Reportedly, the makers accepted the Bollywood actor's demand since they were in a hurry to rope in an actor with a nationwide reach. Initially, the makers were in talks with Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger to play the villain in the film, but it did not materialise.

Akshay Kumar is known to work on more than one film a year, and the recent buzz is the actor has signed Divya Khosla Kumar's next. The interesting part is "Khiladi" Kumar has reportedly demanded a huge amount to star in the "Sanam Re" director's movie and she has agreed to the actor's terms.
"Divya and Akshay have discussed the project, and Akshay has agreed to be a part of it for a huge price — approximately Rs. 56 crore. Divya seems to have agreed to the terms," a source told Deccan Chronicle.





Divya, wife of T-Series Chairman Bhushan Kumar, has directed films like "Yaariyan" and "Sanam Re," and also a few music videos. Both films did well at the box office and the music videos have also done good business. So, it seems the director has no problem with the amount asked by Akshay.
On the other hand, Bhushan and Divya denied the reports and called it a mere rumour. When Deccan Chronicle contacted Divya, she said: "This is news to me," while her husband Bhushan said: "It's a rumour, Divya is still writing the script."

If reports are to be believed, it will be interesting to see Akshay in Divya's film, which is mostly a full-fledged love story. Meanwhile, the "Airlift" actor is flying high with the success of his latest movie, "Housefull 3," which also starred Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon.
He will next be seen in "Rustom" and the sequel of "Robot," titled "2.0." "Rustom," directed by Tinu Desai, is a romantic thriller starring Akshay, Ileana D'Cruz and Esha Gupta. The film is inspired by the life of navy officer KM Nanavati. It is slated to be released worldwide on Aug. 12 along with Hrithik Roshan's "Mohenjo Daro." And, in "2.0," Akshay will be seen as the antagonist, sharing screen space with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth.
