A birdseye view of the scene taken by a photographer captured the wreckage Messi left in his wake, men in blue shirts scattered around the box, helpless figures bowing before his genius.

Lionel Messi was delighted to conquer his “anxiety” about Argentina’sWorld Cup opener after his wonder-goal inspired them to victory overBosnia-Herzegovina.

Messi confessed to suffering “nerves” ahead of Sunday’s 2-1 Group Fwin at the Maracana following a first half in which he failed to live up to his tag as the greatest player of his generation.

A tactical switch had the desired effect as he produced a trademark run and finish.

“It’s not easy to play the first match in the World Cup and what it means, the anxiety, the nerves,” he said after collecting his man-of-the-match award.

Messi admitted he felt isolated by the first half as manager Alejandro Sabella’s decision to play a three-man defence almost backfired.

“I was alone and Kun [Sergio Aguero] was alone and it was very difficult.”

He added of the change to 4-3-3: “If we don’t use that system, we suffer a bit more.
“We have to continue doing this, what we did in the second half.”
Sabella refused to admit blundering with his team selection, saying: “It is difficult to say whether you made a mistake in the initial line-up.”
Asked to score his side’s display out of 10, he said: “Striking a balance, I would give it a six and obviously we need to improve.
“Part of that improvement is in my hands. It’s up to me.”

The world knew Messi had to lift Argentina almost by himself in this tournament, and that's exactly what he did.

The stadium erupted in songs that did not stop for the rest of the match. The magic had returned at just the right moment. The congestion of the first half was only a petty prelude. A day that began with swarms of Argentina fans rocking Brazil subway cars with claps and songs ended in relief.

Initial formation was too bad..... the ball was not being supplied to the strikers.... they had to collect the ball from the centre and take it to the opposition.
Also, Mid fielders were too defensive... and couldnt find Maria or Maxi much.

Second half was more fun to watch.... with the sudden outburst of messi.. and some other moves by the strikers.

the two biggest concerns, defence and Goali, was better than expected... though the Goal by Bosnia could have been saved even by our Indian Goali

Got to improve in many parts.... especially the team work..... or else... its another Quarter-final/ Pre- Quarter exit for the Albicelete....
