Mohanlal and Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla will play the lead roles, in upcoming film titled Gaatha. The film is directed by National award winner cum cinematographer Shaji N. Karun. His last film with Mohanlal, Vaanaprastham was a winner all the way.
Juhi Chawla was finalized for the role after considering many faces including Madhuri Dixit and Jaya Bachchan. The film will commence in June in Ladakh.
Bollywood yester year star Juhi Chawla debuted in Malayalam a decade ago in the Fazil movie Harikrishnan’s. Though the actors have shared screen earlier, it was different for HariKrishnan’s as, they both have become big stars by then. The movie featured Mammootty and Mohanlal and made much controversy due to double climax which tried to satisfy the fans of both stars. It was in the year 1998. A grand reunion was seen last year in the film Twenty Twenty.
Gaatha a musical entertainer is based on a short story, Kadal written by T. Padmanabhan and will have locations in Chennai and Vienna.
Gaatha will feature many foreign technicians.
Theatres are currently playing Alexander the Great and Janakan. Mohanlal has almost completed shooting for the film Shikar and his upcoming projects are Kandahar, Casanova and China Town.
T. Padmanabhan's "Kadal"
T.Padmanabhan's Story "Kadal" is now on the platform of making a movie. Director Shaji N.Karun planned a movie on the background of this story. It might be named "Gatha". Mohanlal will be in the lead character of father in the movie. There were rumours that Juhi Chawla will return to malayalam cinema after "Hari Krishanans", if that so, She will cast opposite Mohanlal as the character of Mother.
As the movie has its touch of Shaji N.Karun. It will have particularly no name for the characters in the movie. Rajasthan will be the location for the shooting. Movie will have two languages - Malayalam and Hindi.
Juhi Chawla again with Mohanlal
Bollywood star Juhi Chawla was last seen in Mollywood, a decade ago in the Fazil movie 'Harikrishnans'. The movie featured a much controversial twin ends in which Juhi was made to go for a toss to select between heroes, which was devised to satisfy the fans of both the big stars of Mollwood. Now the news is that Juhi is making a coming back to feature herself as the heroine of Mohanlal.
Juhi will be in for the heroine role in ‘Gaatha’, the new movie by Shaji N Karun ,based on the famous story ''Kadal''. It is rumoured that Shaji had been considering the likes of Madhuri Dixit and Jaya Bachchan, before he zeroed in on Juhi. The shoot for the movie is expected to start by next month at Ladakh. ‘Gaatha’ which will also make use of foreign name in the technical side, will have its locations at Vienna and in some other parts of India.
