Selling vada pav is an art: Ranbir Kapoor



In a bid to do his bit for a fan, Ranbir Kapoor, as part of Colors’ Mission Sapne, stepped out on the streets of Mumbai to sell one of the city’s favourite snacks, vada pav. The actor braved the scorching heat to raise funds for little Sunita who is undergoing treatment for blood cancer.

Ranbir, who also has a family member battling cancer, said he could identify with Sunita’s family’s troubles. Talking about the experience of street vending, he said, “I realised that vada pav selling is an art. I thought it would be a cakewalk, but it wasn’t. I couldn’t break the pav into two equal halves. Then the chutney would spill all over. But given a chance, I would like to do it again.”

When on the job, Ranbir obliged everyone with his or her requests. Cashing in on his popularity, the actor charged Rs 50 for every autograph, and Rs 20 for every handshake. He also posed for pictures, danced and mouthed lyrics of popular songs apart from dishing out vada pavs. When the crowd got hysterical, Ranbir quickly changed his location.

He signed off saying, “Cancer will never win while we have brave-hearts like Sunita.”

Ranbir Kapoor to portray Sanjay Dutt on screen

Rajkumar Hirani is all set to work on Sanjay Dutt biopic and these days he is looking for an actor to portray Sanjay on big screen.

According to the source, “Sanjay and Raju (Hirani) had a discussion a long time ago. Sanjay had told him to guide him on films that his production houses is involved in.”

One of the most favored actor for this role is Ranbir Kapoor and he has been approached with the script.

The film will be produced by Sanjay’s wife Manyata and Hirani himself.

The source added, “Raju isn’t fond of donning the producer’s hat. He’s doing it for his next with Aamir and has agreed to do it for Sanjay’s biopic only because they both go back a long time. The film will go into pre-production after Raju’s December release. As of now, Ranbir Kapoor has liked the script, but no cast has been finalised yet. Sanjay’s life story is vast and involves a lot of minute detailing.”

Ranbir Kapoor's 'Barfi!' to be screened in Serbia

After winning hearts at home and several international film festivals, romantic comedy Barfi starring Ranbir Kapoor is now all set to delight audiences in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.

The Indian Embassy in Belgrade in collaboration with Filmstreet is screening the 2012 film on Sunday evening in Belgrade.

The open screening of Barfi! will take place at Students Park at 8:30 pm local time, the Embassy said in a statement.

The film about a young hearing and speech-impaired boy named Barfi, who falls in love with a beautiful woman, Shruti, played by Ileana D'Cruz.

Barfi, written and directed by Anurag Basu, also stars Priyanka Chopra in her acclaimed role of Jhilmil.

Shot in the scenic locale of Darjeeling and urban Kolkata, Barfi! is a touching story of human frailties that refuse to surrender, even under the most difficult of circumstances.

The film was India's official entry to Oscars in 2012
