The Dolphins: Review

Not a fan of Diphan's works( except Puthiya Mukham) and Suresh Gopi has been very low for the past few years. So my only reason to go for this film was Anoop Menon since I really like his brand of comedy(especially adult jokes and those onliners). But unfortunately nothing really worked for this film and the result was disappointing.

The movie has 2 plots :
1- This revolves around Suran Bala(Suresh Gopi) - a very rich middle aged Thiruvananthapuram who owns 41 bars, 4 luxurious cars , a mansion and many land properties . But since he is in the spirit business and have a not-so-impressive-family background, the society doesn't respect him( oru Pranchiyettan line pole thanne). Thus he is trying to build that image-we see him going for Spoken English classes,getting his biography written etc. Ithinidakku oru jyothsan parayunnathu kettu oru sthree saannidhyam pulliku avashyam ayi varikayum pinneedu athinulla shramangalum(which results in him cheating his wife )cheatingokke ayi ithu plot neengunnu.

2-This is about the murders of 3 persons in 3 different places and the investigation of those incidents by the cops (Saiju Kurup, Suraj Venharamoodu). About the murders and the plannings-the less said,the better.

So naturally we do expect the 2 plots to converge at a point . Well its a huge let down here .

Both script and direction are big disappointment. Anoop Menon,i think, was drunk when he wrote this and Diphan complicates this silly stuff with some flashbacks and all. But Suresh Gopi's combo scenes with Kalpana( a very good perfo) and Anoop Menon were pleasant . Also Anoop with some of his his oneliners in the second half were very funny. 2 songs by M Jayachandran were also good. But thats about it.

Suresh Gopi was very annoying in the beginning esp his slang and costumes.But as the movie progresses he wins you over. The rest of the cast involves Anoop Menon regulars( Nandhu,Indrans,Thesni Khan, Joju, Shaju, Arun etc), Irshad, Nishant Sagar(??),Meghna(why) . The cameo by Madhu was nice.Good to see him again.

Overall this film is a huge disappointment
