DOUBLE BARREL -
I decided to watch this movie even after hearing all those negative reviews from almost all the people because i believed in the master cratfsman - Mr. Lijo Jose Pellissery.
The movie started off with these words "IF IT CAN BE WRITTEN OR THOUGHT, IT CAN BE FILMED - Stanley Kubrick." and a few warnings on Logics and about foreigners speaking in malayalam.
From there on i fell in love with alomst everything that happened on screen. (except a few songs and a very few weird comedy scenes). Be it the title cards, direction, script, cinematography, color tone, BGM, costumes, art work, acting (except Arya in couple of scenes).
This is not your usual movie. It's a whole new genre - First of its kind in malayalam or may be even in Indian cinema. "GANGSTER COMEDY". A whole bunch of people dressed up in western style and they do all those stupidity and gunshots like they have come out from a comic book.
Every frames were so rich, the color tone was very soothing, BGM created the proper mood, costumes were so stylish and the art work was awesome.
Lijo - You can only make it happen man ... Double thumbs up for you and August cinema, that you guys had the balls to try something crazy like this even though you knew that it may not do well in the box office.
If you want to experience something very new - A Tarantino/Guy Ritchie kind of film blended with a comic book style. This is the movie for you.
Watch it with the mindset of a kid.
NB: Padam kandittu ishtappettillengil enne theri vilikkaruthu. Ithu enghanathe padam aanenh manassilakkiyittu kaanuka. Ishtappedaan sadhyathayundu.
This is not a usual old school formula movie, this is not a new generation movie, this is a next generation movie.
Kudos- LIJO, AUGUST CINEMA, ABHINANDHAN RAMANUJAM, PRASANTH PILLAI and all the actors including the whites and blacks.
DOUBLE BARREL is Stupid, Silly, and Insane FUN.
