14-year-old Ira Jadhav scores 346, becomes first Indian to hit triple century in U-19 cricket
Fourteen-year-old Mumbai opener Ira Jadhav created history on Sunday by becoming the first Indian to score a triple century in U-19 cricket. Playing in the U-19 Womens One Day Trophy, Jadhav smashed an unbeaten 346 off 157 balls against Meghalaya at the Alur Cricket Ground.
Her explosive innings included 42 fours and 16 sixes, leading Mumbai to a record total of 563/3 in 50 oversthe highest score by an Indian womens domestic team across all formats and age groups.
With this knock, Jadhav broke Smriti Mandhanas record for the highest U-19 score by an Indian and became the first Indian to achieve a triple century in a BCCI-organised limited-overs tournament.
Despite being listed in the WPL 2025 auction as one of the youngest players, Jadhav went unsold last month. However, her latest achievement firmly establishes her as a rising star in Indian cricket.

Mandatory domestic participation, no endorsements, family policy: BCCI's new rulebook for players after Australia setback
The BCCI on Thursday unveiled a set of 10-point disciplinary guidelines following the poor performances by the men's Test team against New Zealand and Australia.
The guidelines included mandatory participation in domestic cricket and restrictions on personal staff and presence of players' families on tours policy to promote discipline and unity in team.
This comes after the board conducted a comprehensive review after the Indian team lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 1-3 in Australia.
Key topics of discussion included the decision to prepare a rank turner for the Mumbai Test, the choice to rest Jasprit Bumrah, and Gautam Gambhir's coaching approach.
The meeting was attended by skipper Rohit Sharma, chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, head coach Gambhir (who participated online), and president Roger Binny.
The BCCI said that the objective of these guidelines was promote discipline, unity, and a positive team environment, while ensuring professional standards and operational efficiency during tours and series.
Here are the 10 guidelines for the players to follow:
Participation in Domestic Matches
Participation in domestic matches has been made mandatory for players to remain eligible for selection in the national team and for central contracts. The policy ensures that players stay connected to the domestic ecosystem, enriching talent development, maintaining match fitness, and strengthening the overall domestic structure, said BCCI.
Any exceptions to this mandate will be considered only under extraordinary circumstances and will require formal notification and approval from the Chairman of the Selection Committee, ensuring fairness and transparency in the process.
Traveling Separately with Families
All players are expected to travel with the team to and from matches and practice sessions. Separate travel arrangements with families are discouraged to maintain discipline and team cohesion.Exceptions must be pre-approved by the Head Coach and the Chairman of the Selection Committee.
Excess Baggage Limit
Players are required to adhere to the specified baggage limits shared with the team. Any excess baggage costs will need to be borne by the individual player. This policy helps streamline logistics and avoid unnecessary expenses. For longer tours lasting for more than 30 days, players will be allowed three pieces of luggage, including three suitcases and two kit bags or up to 150 kg. The support staff will be allowed three pieces, including two big and a small suitcase, or up to 80 kg.
For shorter tours, players will be allowed pieces, which includes two suitcases and two kit bags or up to 120 kg. The support staff is allowed two pieces (2 suitcases) or up to 60 kg.
Rules of short tours will apply even for home series.
Restriction on Personal Staff
Personal staff like personal managers, chefs, assistants, and security personnel are to be restricted on tours or series unless explicitly approved by the BCCI. This measure ensures that the focus remains on team operations and minimises logistical challenges.
Sending Bags to the Centre of Excellence
Players must coordinate with team management regarding the dispatch of equipment and personal items to the Centre of Excellence, Bengaluru. Any additional costs due to separate arrangements will have to be incurred by the player.
Attendance at Practice Sessions
All players are required to attend scheduled practice sessions in full and travel together to and from the venue.
Restrictions on Personal Shoots During Series/Tours
Players are not permitted to engage in personal shoots or endorsements during an ongoing series or tour. This policy avoids distractions and ensures players remain focused on cricket and team responsibilities.
Family Travel Policy
The family travel policy is designed to balance players personal well-being with team commitments. Players absent from India for more than 45 days during overseas tours may be joined by their partners and children (under 18 ) for one visit per series (format-wise) lasting up to two weeks. The BCCI will cover shared accommodation for the player and their family during the designated visitors' period. All other expenses are to be borne by the player.
Family visits must be scheduled as a single visit during dates agreed upon by the Coach, Captain, and GM Operations.
Any deviation from this policy must be pre-approved by the Coach, Captain, and GM Operations. Additional expenses outside the designated visitors' period will not be covered by the BCCI.
Participation in Official BCCI Engagements
Players are required to be available for BCCIs official shoots, promotional activities, and functions. These engagements are crucial for fulfilling commitments to stakeholders and promoting the game effectively.
Completion of Tours
Players must stay with the team until the scheduled end of the match series or tour, even if matches conclude earlier than planned. This ensures unity, fosters team bonding, and avoids disruption to team dynamics.
Smaran, Shrijith, Manohar power Karnataka to Vijay Hazare title
The Karnataka squad poses with the trophy, Karnataka vs Vidarbha, Vijay Hazare Trophy final, Vadodara, January 18, 2025
Dhruv Shorey's run-a-ball hundred in vain for Vidarbha
Karnataka 348 for 6 (Smaran 101, Manohar 79, Shrijith 78, Nalkande 2-67) beat Vidarbha 312 (Shorey 110, H Dubey 63, Koushik 3-47, Shetty 3-58 ) by 36 runs
In a high-scoring contest that produced over 650 runs and two superb hundreds from R Smaran and Dhruv Shorey, it was a 42-ball 79 from Abhinav Manohar that made the difference as Karnataka edged Vidarbha in a thriller to clinch the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Vadodara.
That it became a thriller was down to Harsh Dubey's 63 off 30 balls after Karun Nair's dream run in the tournament ended. Nair was dismissed for only the second time in eight innings in the tournament when Prasidh Krishna knocked him over for 27. Nair finished with a chart-topping 779 runs at an eye-popping average of 389.50.
Dubey built on Shorey's third successive century, by hitting a 25-ball half-century lower down the order, to bring the equation down to 37 off 12 balls. In the end, Dubey ran out of partners and was the last man dismissed when he heaved left-arm seamer Abhilash Shetty to deep midwicket as Karnataka sealed victory to break a five-year trophy drought.
The game was fought on an even keel for most parts. Karnataka, who were put in to bat, lost the in-form Devdutt Padikkal in the sixth over, before KV Aneesh and Mayank Agarwal steadied the innings.
R Smaran emerged as the breakout star for Karnataka in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy
Seamer Nachiket Bhute then struck twice in two overs to remove both batters; Agarwal fell for 32 to finish the tournament as the second-highest run-getter with 651 runs. At 67 for 3, Karnataka needed a rescue act, and two relatively inexperienced players stepped up.
Smaran and KL Shrijith, both of whom are in their first full seasons, put together 160 for the fourth wicket. The pair slowly built a platform before picking up pace. They took 26 off the 27th and 28th overs as Karnataka went on the offensive. Shrijith was superb in his footwork against spin, quickly bringing up a half-cegntury off 54 balls, Smaran followed suit in the same over when he brought his off 47 balls with an exquisite pull in front of square off the nippy Yash Thakur.
Shrijith's dismissal in the 38th over brought Manohar out to the middle, and he enhanced his reputation of being a finisher with some pristine hitting, not once giving the impression that he was slogging. On 24 off 25 at the end of the 44th over, Manohar began the surge by hitting Bhute for a sequence of 4, 4, 6 to begin the 45th.
When Bhute bowled length into the pitch, Manohar used the angle to pick a boundary behind point. When Bhute bowled a wide yorker, he scythed it to the deep-cover fence, and when he missed a yorker, Manohar stayed deep inside the crease and shovelled it to clear long-off.
Thakur bore the brunt of Manohar's fury in the following over when he was picked away for two fours in the 46th, and three back-to-back fours in the 48th, as the wheels started to come off Vidarbha's attack. The last seven overs fetched Karnataka 83 as they got the perfect finish.
Vidarbha started the chase briskly but lost the centurion of the previous game, Yash Rathod, for 22 when he got a leading edge to Padikkal at slip. Nair and Shorey were then involved in a half-century stand to lift Vidarbha's hopes.
Nair was particularly sparkling in his short stay, punching and pulling Prasidh Krishna through covers and midwicket, and then going after legspinner Shreyas Gopal at the first sign of spin being introduced. But he fell for 27 off 31 balls when he failed to cover the line of a Prasidh inducker that kept slightly low.
Vidarbha then chugged along with Jitesh Sharma giving Shorey company in a half-century stand before holing out to long-on. That wicket not only galvanised Karnataka but also freed up Vidarbha to go for broke, like Dubey did. With some support, he may have yet been able to pull off a heist, but it wasn't to be.

MI Cape Town crush Sunrisers to claim maiden SA20 title
Series of hard-hitting cameos give way to potent bowling display as home comforts prove decisive
Rashid Khan and his team lift the SA20 trophy SA20
MI Cape Town 181 for 8 (Esterhuizen 39, Brevis 38, Gleeson 2-22) beat Sunrisers Eastern Cape 105 (Abell 30, Rabada 4-25, Boult 2-9, Linde 2-20) by 76 runs
Rashid Khan's MI Cape Town have been crowned the new champions of the SA20, after they denied Aiden Markram's Sunrisers Eastern Cape a three-peat and decimated them for the third time this season, in front of a packed crowd at the Wanderers.
After opting to bat, MICT felt at home - all of their top five play for Lions at the Wanderers - and sent the ball flying over the boundaries in the Highveld. The rarefied air suited their style of play: despite losing wickets, MICT kept attacking and posted 181 for 8 on the back of electric cameos. Three of their batters passed 30 and all of them struck at 150 or above. It was Dewald Brevis who truly brought the crowd alive with his 18-ball 38. Brevis, 21, capped the season as its rising star.
MICT's older stars Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada then wrecked Sunrisers' chase by sharing six wickets between them. Boult, in particular, hooped the new ball both ways in the powerplay, and ended with 4-0-9-2. Rashid and George Linde, the left-arm fingerspinner, then ramped up the pressure in the middle overs before Rabada wrapped up the victory. Sunrisers folded for 105 in 18.4 overs.
MI have now ticked off title wins in every franchise T20 tournament they've been part of. IPL, CLT20 (now defunct), WPL, MLC, ILT20, SA20.
Dubai Capitals crowned ILT20 champions as Sikandar Raza, Rovman Powell decimate Desert Vipers
The International League T20 (ILT20) season ended with a nerve-jangling final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday as the Dubai Capitals (DC) were crowned the champions after a stroke of luck followed game-changing knocks from Rovman Powell and Sikandar Raza, who delivered a four-wicket win over Desert Vipers (DV) in a thrilling finish.
Sikandar Raza's unbeaten knock of 34 runs in just 12 balls stole the show in the last two overs of DC's chase, which saw remarkable hitting from the all-rounder to take his team past DV's 189/5, after Powell set up the chase with his innings of 63 off 38 balls.
The match kept swinging like a pendulum during the run-chase.
After DC lost David Warner (4), Gulbadin Naib (5) and Sam Billings (6) early, opener Shai Hope played the anchor to score 43 off 39 balls, while Rovman Powell played the role of the aggressor after getting a reprieve when he had scored only 2.

While it looked like wickeetkeeper Azam Khan had cleanly stumped Powell off the bowling of spinner Nathan Sowter, replays showed his gloves slightly in front of the stumps when he collected the ball to remove the bails. It was, thus, ruled a no-ball and Powell went on to add 61 runs more.
It turned out to be the game-changing moment of the match.
Powell then kept rubbing salt into the Vipers' wounds, adding 80 runs with Hope and then a brisk 41 runs with Dasun Shanaka (21 off 10), before getting dismissed off the last ball of the 18th over bowled by Sowter.
The match turned into a Raza show for the next eight deliveries, which saw 4 fours and a six coming off his bat to deliver the title-clinching win.
David Payne (2 for 28 ) and Mohammad Amir (2 for 35) took two wickets each for the Vipers.
Chelsea Owner Beats Shah Rukh Khan To Enter Cricket Landscape; Set To Compete Against MI, LSG, And SRH:
After an investment by a string of Indian Premier League's (IPL), England's The Hundred League will also now have participation from the world of football, as co-owner of European Giants Chelsea Todd Boehly has purchased a 49% stake in the Nottingham-based franchise Trent Rockets.
As per a report by EspnCricinfo, Cain International, led by Boehly and Chelsea director Jonathan Goldstein, won the rights to purchase the franchise after winning a bidding war in a live auction over the owners of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). It is worth noting that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, alongside veteran actress Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta, owns the three-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions. Indian investor Amit Jain, who was working with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), was also part of the bidding process.
It has been reported that Boehly will pay around £40m (Rs. 430 crore approx) for his stake, valuing the franchise at £79m (Rs. 849 crore approx).
So far, the decision to sell a hundred teams to private owners and convert the tournament into a franchise model has seen some big investments. London Phoenix, who play their home games at Lord's, have been the most expensive sale so far as a Silicon Valley consortium purchased a 49% stake for £145m (Rs. 1559 crore approx). The Ambani family-owned Mumbai Indians purchased a 49% stake in Oval Invincibles for £60m (Rs. 645 crore approx). Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka purchased a 70% stake in Manchester Originals for £81m (Rs. 871 crore approx), while the Sun Group, which owns the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), purchased a 100% stake in the Northern Superchargers for £100m (Rs. 1075 crore approx).
There was investment from the USA's National Football League (NFL) as Knighthead Capital, who have a business partnership with legendary player Tom Brady, purchased a 49% stake in Birmingham Phoenix for £40m (Rs. 430 crore approx).
Major League Cricket (MLC) Champions Washington Freedom's owner, Sanjay Govil, purchased 49% stake in the Welsh Fire.
Manchester United co-owners Glazer Family were also rumoured to be interested in a buying a team but have not purchased anyone so far. They already own the Desert Vipers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based ILT20.
Southern Brave are the only team yet to be auctioned, with the process set to take place tonight. Delhi Capitals co-owner GMR Group are favourites to win the bid, having already purchased a majority stake in the franchise's home county, Hampshire.
