With its bright and colorful visuals, Inside Out 2 is made to shine in HDR. The movie will be released theatrically in HDR, but only about 100 cinemas are equipped for it.
Disney-owned Pixar is now encouraging theatrical exhibitors to adopt the HDR video standard, according to Variety, so cinemagoers can experience animated movies as the director intended.
Inside Out 2 will be released in 4K SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) for IMAX, Dolby Cinema, and other 4K-capable cinemas.
However, the theatrical HDR release of Inside Out 2, which is graded to 300 nits peak brightness and more accurately represents the director's intent, can only be experienced in approximately 100 cinemas equipped with large HDR-certified direct view LED displays, such as the Samsung Onyx. It is the same display technology that the company is trying to commercialize as 'microLED TVs' for consumers.
In 2019, Samsung announced that Onyx LED screens were installed in 16 countries worldwide, including the US, India, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, and Spain.

Zomato In Advanced Talks To Acquire Paytms Movie Ticketing Business For Rs 1,500 Crore: Report
Food delivery giant Zomato is in advanced negotiations to acquire Paytms movie ticketing and events business, with the potential deal valued at around Rs 1,500 crore, according to The Economic Times report. This acquisition aligns with Zomato's strategic push to expand its presence in the going out segment, which encompasses food, grocery, and entertainment.
If the deal is finalized, it will be Zomato's second-largest acquisition following its purchase of the quick commerce platform Blinkit (formerly Grofers) in an all-stock deal valued at Rs 4,447 crore in 2022.
The acquisition would merge Paytm Movies and Paytm Insider, creating synergies between the two platforms. Paytm had previously bolstered its entertainment ticketing portfolio by acquiring a majority stake in Insider.in for Rs 35 crore in 2017 and later purchasing TicketNew.
Paytm Movies is a significant competitor to BookMyShow, the market leader in movie ticketing. BookMyShow, backed by Reliance Industries and venture capital funds like Accel and Elevation, reported an operating revenue of Rs 976 crore for the financial year ending March 31, 2023, with profits of Rs 85.72 crore. The company is currently closing a funding round led by private equity firm KKR, valuing it at Rs 7,500 crore.
Zomatos CEO, Deepinder Goyal, has highlighted the potential of combining dining out, events, and ticketing as a major business vertical for the company, alongside its existing segments of food ordering, Blinkit, and Hyperpure.
Paytm Marketing Services, which includes deals and gift vouchers, ticketing (travel, movie, events), advertising, and credit cards marketing, generated Rs 1,734 crore in revenue in FY24. The report added that the Wasteland Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the entity operating Insider, reported revenues of Rs 192.7 crore in FY23, up from Rs 48.6 crore the previous year.
Paytm, run by One97 Communications, is increasingly focusing on its core payments and financial services. The company faced a ban from operating its payments bank in January due to regulatory lapses, leading to a slowdown in its merchant payments and consumer lending businesses.
The move to sell its entertainment ticketing business is part of a broader strategy by Paytms board to streamline operations and concentrate on its primary financial services offerings.

It would be expensive to some cinema owners here. Better option would be to upgrade the projection system to RGB laser projection. Its par with what we see on smart TV.
