Rebel Ridge (2024)

Comes from the highly talented Jeremy Saulnier, Rebel Ridge is a highly underwhelming action thriller which had all the bullets and checks loaded in the cartridge but somehow couldn't fire.............

So a black man comes to a town full of racist cops to bail his brother out. Confrontation with cops ensues and how he gets back at them is the plot.

It had a perfect setup in first act, but loses much of it's steam and momentum by 2nd act & 3rd act with an uninteresting subplot with a lawyer and a confusing conspiracy plot.

Jermiah's previous works Blue ruin & Green room, if I remember were terrific thrillers... Rebel ridge doesn't match up to that

Maxxxine (2024):

Maxxxine is a huge step down from it's prequels and serves as an underwhelming conclusion to the 'X' trilogy.

Story goes like this a porn star and an aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. Parallel to this plotline a mysterious killer stalks celebs. Will Maxine face the stalker and confront her past?

Negatives - Boring narration that goes nowhere, wooden characters

Maxxxine although shot beautifully, it doesn't have that flair, sex & violence appeal of X (2022) or it's wildly imaginative prequel PEARL (2022).

And a wonderful waste of stacked talented cast including Mia Goth, Kevin Bacon & Giancarlo esposito- for that crime itself Maxxxine earns a 1.5/5 from me

Wild tales (2014):

After getting disappointed watching numerous films lately I wanted to try something different.....

Wild tales is an Argentinian film that was on my watchlist for a long time. Finally gave it a shot today morning..

Voilaaaa....... Completely satisfied 💯

Wild tales is a collection of 6 short stories (something like a kerala cafe or manorathangal) which portrays human emotions to a degree....
Humorous, thoughtful, wildly creative and well-acted.........
Wow we rarely get stuff like that....

Each short film is 10 min only with a simple plot, but very engaging and entertaining.
That's all I need 🙏 chef's kiss❤️

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024):


A less funny, less entertaining sequel of Deadpool series, relying completely on references at MCU, inconsequential cameos, and the charisma of the leads.

Similar thing our thala Venkat prabhu did with GOAT.

Usual multiverse shenanigans and gimmicks doesn't help either

Alien : Romulus (2024)

Alien Romulus is a decent sci fi horror. Incredible production and visuals accompanied by okayish performances. It is definitely a better edition than it's prequels prometheus & covenant..

What ruins the fun is that the movie prolongs even after the climax. An unnecessary addon in the final act actually hurts the movie.
Otherwise this is an okayish addition to the alien lore 3/5

Godzilla minus one (2024):

Another day, another godzilla film... This one makes an impact because unlike other entries in the franchise you actually give a damn about humans here... And that's a rare feat 3/5

The substance (2024):

Substance is a film that is designed to EVOKE a REACTION from you...... You might hate it, you might dislike it, or you may even like it....

Amusing>Interesting>Disgusting>Cringe>Funny - You may go through the same reactions throughout

When the 2nd act is over, you may think that there is no way they can top this...... Then Coralie Fargeat, the director wants to punch you directly in the face with one of the most disgusting visceral scenes ever shown in Bigscreen...Coralie you rascal........

Final 20 minutes are pure RIDICULOUS and funny and you can feel the director completely in his realm.

I might not watch this film ever again... But that doesn't make this film inferior.... You can't rate movies like this(I can recall SPEAK NO EVIL original similar to this). I am hereby stopping giving rating for films.

DEMI MOORE is terrific in a CAREER DEFINING role.. Margaret Qualley is equally good

MUST WATCH in my opinion just to experience this..
