Went with lot of expectations after seeing and hearing lot of positive reviews. Whether the movie lived up to those expectations. Not really That said, best among the Onam movies I have seen so far (Yet to see Njandukal).
To the movie - Starts of at Scotland with Husband, Wife, Daughter and Husband's Mom family set up, church visits etc. During this time their friend circle in Scotland is introduced and Husband's Brother - Adam Joan's voice is introduced over phone. Then the turning point of daughter getting kidnapped and mother getting killed and heroes real intro at Mother's Funeral. When any stylish Movie gets made in Malayalam, we cannot help the comparison we do with Big B which started the trend of Stylish movie in Malayalam and still stands tall as the Best Stylish movie made so far in Malayalam. The sequence of Mother's killing and heroes intro at Mother's funeral is same as in Big B, but the shots and the impact are far below what we saw in Big B. Also in such stylish movies we expect a rough and tough Hero rather than an emotional hero which was missing in the Intro. Makers have tried to bring in the same with some punchy English dialogues in between and Prithvi has handled those sequences very well. Only the intro part and his bike riding part I did not like. The main saving grace during all these are the beautiful locations of Scotland and the exotic cars used. Otherwise the proceedings on the screen are pretty mediocre in the first half and the regular cliche of even the mid day should be shown dark since it is a Dark shade thriller Lack of relationship establishment between the hero and missing daughter along with all these makes the first half just an above average watch.
Second Half is much more interesting than the first half. The locations and cars continues to make viewers glued to the screen. In the 2nd half the mystery unfolds - but there is no major suspense waiting for climax. Things become predictable at the first break through itself and the only question that gets the viewers worried is how the daughter if alive could be saved. The quest for the same continues in a much more interesting way than the first half sequences. Has got some nice moments during this and some good English one liners rendered beautifully by Prithvi. But the weakest part in the 2nd half is the climax fight or operations - It is like a Telugu Masala movie climax fight in so far maintained stylish movie claimed to be on par with Hollywood Climax fight is a total misfit to the whole movie. But the post climax fight part, the final climax makes lot of impact and helps us leave the cinema hall with some emotional quotient for the hero. There the makers have been successfull.
Positives
Locations, Cars
Prithvi's dialogue delivery at times especially with English One Liners
Overall theme is not we see regularly in Malayalam movies
Negatives
Shots needs to be much better in a Stylish movie.
An emotional hero (Or at least a hero who shows emotions, cries etc) is a mis-fit in such stylish movies.
Climax Fight resembling Telugu Masala Movies - The fight is shot well but it does not gel within the overall movie mood.
Overall Summary - No where near Hollywood movies as the makers claim except for the location and cars used. An above average stylish thriller which does not thrill us much but will get you glued to the screen thanks to the location and cars used.
Crowd Response - Except some very few people most of the other people seemed to be liking the movie. In my case also except myself, my wife and both kids just loved the movie
Rating - 3 / 5. An above average Stylish Crime Thriller.
