Maybe I've lost my taste for these commercial Tamil films, but this movie IMO was a load of crap. The script was filled with foolish and lazy plot points, double meaning comedy or stupid slapstick that wasn't funny, and tons of overdone melodrama. Second half was a kanneer machine.
Seriously---a well educated doctor decides she wants to marry a local goon cuz he makes her feel safe.... and then remorses about the violence later on?!?! Don't get me started about that scene where Ajith brings an unconscious and floppy baby back home and appeases Nayanthara that "she's just sleeping", who then has to point out that there's blood on her neck before he realizes he was holding the baby in the middle of a sword fight And then he just looks at her and asks her what they should do next with the unconscious baby LMAO
The director has no clue how to handle emotional scenes---he just raises the BGM and has the characters cry their eyes out or mouth overdramatic dialogues. Editing is shoddy also.
Only good thing was Ajith, Nayanthara, Anikha's performances. Nayanthara should have turned this one down---she had more screen time than typical mass masala heroines, but typical "woman sees the light after misunderstanding hero"
I know you shouldn't expect gold from these type of films but the filmmakers should at least try instead of banking on the lead pair's star power.

The Tamil film Viswasam released in January has become the highest grossing Tamil film in Tamil Nadu in terms of NETT and GROSS collections. The highest grossing film in the state still remains Bahubali - The Conclusion which is the only film to cross 150 crore GROSS and 125 crore NETT.
Viswasam has grossed around 111 cr nett in the state which makes it the third Tamil film to cross 100 crore nett after Endhiran (2010) and 2.0 (201. There have been tax changes in the state and at the time of Endhiran the Tamil films were tax free.
Viswasam is still running so may collect a little more but it is already the highest grossing Tamil film in Tamil Nadu ever. It will also be the first Tamil film to cross a distributor share of 75 crore in Tamil Nadu with a final share close to 80 crore. Bahubali - The Conclusion was 90 crore and 2.0 was 71 crore. Below are the collections of the top fifteen grossers in Tamil Nadu. All the films are tracked in NETT as cinemas report NETT but due to the tax changes the NETT collections do not give the correct picture. So the below numbers are GROSS figures for all films
1. Bahubali - The Conclusion - 1,58,46,00,000 (2017)
2. Viswasam - 1,31,26,00,000 (2019) (Still Running)
3. 2.0 - 1,28,85,00,000 (201
4. Sarkar - 1,23,72,00,000 (201
5. Mersal - 1,23,19,00,000 (2017)
6. Petta - 1,15,74,00,000 (2019) (Still Running)
7. Endhiran - 1,01,59,00,000 (2010)
