The Flash (2023)
Right up there with the cream of the crop of DC films.
The hype surrounding the film was immense, and the trailer was undoubtedly impressive. Although the movie may not have lived up to the colossal expectations it generated, The Flash is one of the better DC films in recent memory. At times, the fan service can feel excessive, and the CGI can appear a bit shoddy, but the film possesses a beating heart that fosters an emotional connection with the audience. Moreover, the movie delivers some genuinely remarkable action set-pieces.
Despite his controversial public image, Ezra Miller is a terrific actor, and his performance in the movie is nothing short of brilliant. It's an absolute delight to see Michael Keaton reprise his role as Batman after 28 years. Sasha Calle's portrayal of Supergirl was an impressive choice that paid off. Michael Shannon once again does a neat job as General Zod. In a brief yet effective appearance, Ben Affleck as Batman was remarkable, proving that his take on the caped crusader is incredibly underrated.
Although The Flash may not be a groundbreaking addition to the superhero genre, it is a refreshing change of pace in a time when many are feeling burnt out on the genre.
