Viacom18 acquires FIFA World Cup 2022 media rights for Rs 450 crore: Report | SportsMint Media

Viacom18 Media had also received fresh TV channel licenses from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Viacom18 has reportedly bagged the rights of the FIFA World Cup 2022 for a whopping amount of Rs 450 crore, which is to be held in Qatar.
According to various sources, the Reliance-backed entertainment network had been in the race for acquiring the media rights of the World Cup for quite some time. The new reports suggest that Viacom18 has been able to do so by bidding higher than Sony, Star, and the other bidders in the race.
Viacom18 acquiring the rights of the FIFA World Cup has been considered quite a smart move. This is the first time an Arab state will be hosting the football World Cup. An Asian country hosting the World Cup will be highly profitable as India is just 2 hours and 30 minutes ahead of Qatar, without much time difference, the Mukesh Ambani-backed organization can cater to a larger audience from the Indian subcontinent.
They’ll also be able to leverage on getting various sponsorships and brand deals ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
According to various sources, Viacom18 Media had also received fresh TV channel licenses from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). It’s likely that Viacom18 will soon be launching its own new sports channel and could broadcast the FIFA World Cup on it.
Additionally, they would also gain from the stronghold that they have on the OTT platforms such as Jio TV and Voot, which will help them to attract the younger audience.

    FIFA investigation ongoing.

If they find that Argentine players manipulated records to avoid quarantine, then 3-0 to Brazil.
Else, 3-0 to Argentina since Brazil stopped home match.

Germany become the first team to qualify for Qatar 2022 World Cup

Goals for Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Jamal Musiala - coupled with defeat for Armenia against Romania - means that Hansi Flick's side are through
Germany have become the first nation to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after running out comfortable 4-0 winners against North Macedonia in UEFA Group J.
Hansi Flick's side booked their spot in the Middle East for next season's showpiece tournament, having cruised through their qualification campaign with relative ease.
Now, they can look forward to discovering who they will face just over a year from now, as they look to recapture their Brazil 2014 success eight years on after a frustrating Euro 2020.
    How did Germany qualify?

Heading into Monday's match in Group J, Flick and company needed only to defeat their hosts in Skopje and hope that Armenia dropped points against Romania elsewhere.
On the road, the visitors held up their end of the bargain, with goals for Chelsea duo Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, plus a first finish for Jamal Musiala, seeing off any chance of a second upset after their reverse loss in March.
With the Tricolours elsewhere managing to pick up a win against the Mountaineers, it confirmed Germany's place - and helped Flick clear his first major test in charge of the national team.

Denmark qualifies for World Cup after 8th straight win

Denmark came into World Cup qualifying without star midfielder Christian Eriksen, who is recovering from collapsing during the European Championship

Denmark became the second European team to qualify for next year's World Cup by beating Austria 1-0 on Tuesday to maintain the team's perfect record in its group.
Joakim Maehle's 53rd-minute goal at Parken Stadium secured a seventh straight qualifying win for the Danes, who have yet to concede in Group F and have the only 100% record.
