Homely Trisha bares her fangs!

The Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya actor seems to have gotten into her first cat-fight
Trisha is possibly the only actor down south who has managed to keep herself away from controversies for over the last decade that she has been around. Despite acting with some of the top names in Tamil and Telugu movies, the actress is well liked both by her co-stars and directors. So, when a little birdie told us about Trisha being hugely upset with one of her peers, we initially refused to believe it. Reports suggested that the dusky star was seething mad after reading a report wherein Lakshmi Rai had claimed that she was the first choice heroine in Ajith’s 50th movie Mankathaa. When contacted, Trisha appeared quite calm but asserted the role was penned by director Venkat Prabhu with only her in mind. “I guess she is confused. I am pretty sure Venkat sir created the role with me in mind. When he read out the role to me, I immediately accepted it,” she said. The director too has come out in support for his heroine. Venkat Prabhu says that the script had been changed completely following Ajith’s intervention and possibly this was the reason why Lakshmi Rai is confused about her being the original choice, he concludes, trying to make peace between the two warring beauties. The movie, released last week, has already broken several collection records, including that of Rajnikanth’s superhit Enthiran.

I am proud of Nayanthara: Amala Paul
2011-09-13 09:25:51

We’ve often heard that when two gorgeous women see each other, there are bound to be fireworks.
But this is not the case with these two heroines. Recently, Nayanthara the glam queen of south Indian cinema send an sms to Amala Paul, the promising newcomer after she saw her pics on the cover of a leading women’s magazine.
Nayan's sms was: “You looked really good in the JFW photo shoot and in one of the pics, you looked so much like Priyanka Chopra. The way you have made this fast make-over is quite appreciable”
And Amala Paul screamed in joy and happiness. She was quick to reply back to Nayan: “Nayan you made my day. It was so sweet and kind of you to tell me this, and these words coming from you, means a lot . No other heroine of your stature would tell me this”
Later, sharing this with sify.com, Amala said: “I was always proud about Nayanthara who is from Kerala and made it big in south Indian cinema. She created a place for herself in this male-dominated industry and more than being glamorous, she is also an amazing performer. She has struggled to reach this position and be it her make-over, attitude and bold moves, I really look up to her”.

Will Vaagai Sooda Vaa get theatres?
2011-09-13 09:15:01

The critically acclaimed hit Kalavani director Sarkunam’s new film Vaagai Sooda Vaa (VSV) is ready for release on September 23.
The film is a period piece set in the 1960s in a remote village in Tamil Nadu.
There is a nice buzz about this period romantic comedy that has Vimal and newcomer Iniya in the lead roles, along with Bhagyaraj, Ponvannan and Thambi Ramaiah in supporting roles.
The film marks the debut for composer Ghibran, who had been composing jingles.
However the producers of the film are finding it difficult to release the film on September 23, as there is acute shortage of theatres in TN.
There are too many films releasing around the same time UTV’s Muran and Reliance’s Aayiram Vilakku. Even Chennai multiplexes are finding it difficult to give dates to VSV!
