Selvaraghavan’s Mayakkam Enna has made a star out of its debutant actress Richa Gangopadhya.

The way the director has etched out Richa’s character Yamini has worked big time with the audiences.
Today, Yamini has become the most loved lady on social networking sites. All guys want to marry somebody similar to Yamini! A guy wrote to Selva that he is going to meet a girl chosen by his parents and he is hoping that she turns out to be a Yamini!
As a debutant, Richa, carried the role well and her lip sync to television actress Deepa Venkat who dubbed for her was perfect.

She succeeded in conveying the mood swings and frailties’ of a woman who struck to a failed man till the end.
Richa’s credible and life like performance has won her the audience heart. And if her next commercial mass masala Osthi becomes a hit, Richa, would be breathing down the shoulders of Anushka and Kajal Agarwal for the crown.
The girl is extremely level headed and has so far not been swept by instant stardom. Richa has also taken a decision to stick to south films for the timebeing. She has shown her maturity by opting out of Susi Ganesan’s Shortcut Romeo, the remake of his Thiruttu Payale.
It is a smart move as the actress can concentrate on south films which will provide her with more meaty at the same time commercially viable films. After a few months, we are sure Richa will get to play heroine in Bollywood opposite a bigger star than Neil Nitin Mukesh. Till then chill in Chennai.

Balu Mahendra to be honoured

The veteran cinematographer, writer and director Balu Mahendra is going to be felicitated by an organisation for his yeoman service to Tamil film industry.
Balu Mahendra is a pathbreaker, a person who changed filmmaking and created trends.

He has directed some of the finest movies, and is a pioneer in bringing new technology to Tamil cinema.
The popular filmmaker will be honoured by Shivasankar, in a glitzy affair that will see some of his proteges like Bala, Ameer, Vetrimaran and others like actors Aravind Swamy and Dhanush attending the event.
The buzz is that yesteryear top heroine of the 80’s, Sridevi will be flying down to Chennai to participate in the event to honour her mentor.
Remember, Balu Mahendra was the first to spot the spark in Sridevi as an actress of substance in his Moonram Pirai?

Divya Spandana's birthday resolution

Divya Spandana is the latest addition to the 'Vegetarian' clan.

The actress who celebrated her 29th birthday on November29 with boyfriend Raphael in Kumarakom in Kerala has also taken a birthday resolution.

After watching a television programme on the way animals were culled, Divya has decided to turn vegetarian. She has also decided to abstain from drinking champagne. She says that it is the best thing that could happen to her and recommends everyone now to follow her.

Divya now joins the list of actors who are veggies including Kareena Kapoor, Amritha Rao, Mugda Godse and Lara Dutta.

The Pollathavan and Vaaranam Aayiram girl is waiting for her new film in Tamil Kadhal 2 Kalyanam to release later in the month.

At a sneak peak of the long in the making K2K, people were impressed by her performance in the film.

Vettai Mannan and Vada Chennai on the Same Boat?

Silambarasan’s upcoming projects are on the full spree now. Having wrapped up with ‘Osthe’, the actor has now started shooting for his next project ‘Vettai Mannan’ that has already completed the first schedule. Plans are done to complete the shooting at a single stretch as his other film ‘Vada Chennai’ will go on floors from February.

Shedding lights on the film, producer Dayanidhi Azhagiri said, “It’s the unwritten story, untold history of the organized crime syndicate of North Chennai.”

Well, the story about Vettai Mannan is about the unexplored territories of assassins. But the closer sources claim that there aren’t any similarities between these films and they’re completely based on different themes.

Mugamoodi becomes bigger

UTV Motion Pictures the producers of Mysskin directed Mugamoodi has roped in Nassar to play the role of a powerful Cop.

The super hero adventure film has Jiiva in the title role with Narain playing the powerful anti-hero while new girl Pooja Hegde is the heroine.

K provides music for the film. Mugamoodi is going to be one of the biggest movies of 2012.

Nasser is quite excited with the role and the film’s script and is happy to join the film in this key role.

For the first time, Hong Kong based technicians have worked on the costumes and look of Jiiva as the super hero.

Both Jiiva and Narain went through three months of Kung-fu training for the film under a master and are ready to play the role in the film with authenticity. The film gets rolling from next week in Chennai.
